Soroptimist International Bath and District

It was a perfect day for a bucket collection outside Prior Park Garden Centre on June 9th.  All proceeds will go to the RUH Breast cancer Unit. 

More bedding and towels were given to Cathy Adcock from Julian House today so that she can distribute them to the ladies and families at the Women’s Refuge.  Julian House has taken over the running of the Refuge which is going very well.

This is the message that club member Fiona was telling us tonight at our club meeting when she explained to us how to prevent a stroke and what to do if you are with someone when a stroke may be occurring. Purple is the colour of the Stroke Association.

It was a pleasure to help out again at the RUH Forever Friends  Appeal ‘Walk for Life’ event on Saturday.   500 walkers took part, some walking the full 26.2 miles from Bishop Cannings finishing up at the Holburne Gallery.We were marshalling along the canal towards the end of the walk.Well done to everyone that took part.

Nearly 40 people attended our annual quiz night and money was raised for Dorothy House Hospice.  Well done the winners! and thank you for your donations.

Two of our club members visited the U.N. in Geneva with other club members from the South West Region.  

Fairtrade products were used to celebrate Mother’s Day and a 30th birthday.  From cakes, desserts, coffee, wine and sparkling rose, as much produce was used as possible to support fair trade in 3rd world countries. Bon appetit!

Are you buying Fairtrade items this fortnight?  Lots of lovely coffee, tea, bananas, red wine, chocolate, sugar and pink bubbly are just some of the things you can buy.  Please support the farmers.

It was pretty cold but many people were quite generous with their spare change to give to a worthwhile cause.  It was the RUH Bath’s turn to receive the donations at this match.

President Helen opened up her home and treated us to a lovely tea complete with sandwiches, homemade scones and a variety of cakes.  Donations were made all for a good cause for the charity “Across” which enables very poorly people a chance to visit Lourdes in the wonderful jumbalance which President Helen accompanies from time to time.
