It was a pleasure for President Elect Diane to induct 2 new members into the club at our recent super meeting. We’re sure that they will make wonderful members and really embrace what Sorotpimism is all about. They have already been very involved with the club and we look forward to working towards a better world for girls, women and families.

September 20, 2018Ruth Buckley gave a fascinating talk about her life, career and humanitarian work all over the world which was truly inspiring. The inspirational talk was heard at our supper meeting with a power point presentation to support all the nursing work in particular, that she has done throughout her career and through voluntary organisations.
Life is certainly for living, and helping unfortunate babies, children and families has been her passion for many decades. Ruth hopes to continue her humanitarian work in the future and maybe revisit some of the projects.
Giving away free books for International Literacy Day
September 9, 2018We took a table at the Bathampton Village Fete to celebrate International Literacy Day and gave away free books. We were given donations to go towards the Meru Women’s Garden Project which is the Federation’s Triannual Project at present.
Helping out at ‘All Chipping in” at Great Somerford
August 5, 2018Members from the club helped with refreshments and stewarding at the annual ‘All Chipping In” cycle event to raise money for Julian House and Rotary. It was a boiling day and it was difficult to keep the refreshments from drying up or melting but the competitors were grateful for the drinks and snacks. These cyclists were enduring the 100 mile event.
Presenting cheque to school student embarking on expedition to Cambodia
July 26, 2018Tamsin Smy is fundraising for her 4 week expedition to Cambodia next summer which will include community development work (helping to build houses, schools and toilets), environmental projects and wildlife conservation. We look forward to following Tamsin’s blog during the next year and beyond. We gave her £50 towards her expedtion.
Club members help out with local school to commemorate the Suffragettes of Bath
July 20, 20183 members from the club spent a series of Tuesdays with year 6 pupils from St Andrew’s School in Bath and learnt about the Suffragettes of Bath. Along with making sashes, rosettes, planters and banners they also visited an historic park site in Bath and it finished off with a possession along the Crescent in the presence of the Mayor of Bath.
Toiletries on their way to Women’s refuge
July 20, 2018We have been collecting unused hotel toiletries and other products to send to Julian House who pass them onto the Women’s Refuge in Bath. It’s such a simple way of helping others. Cathy Adcock, charity Fundraiser receiving some of the goodies.

Brain of Bath Quiz night

Meeting up with Edina from our Budapest Friendship Club
July 12, 2018Whilst visiting Budapest, Club member Diane was able to meet up with Edina Bolagh from the SI Budapest Club over a very tasty lunch. We were able to learn about each other’s clubs and hopefully there will be a friendship weekend in Budapest next year.
