Soroptimist International Bath and District

At our meeting last night we lit a candle to support Ukraine and think about all those people that are suffering right now. Our thoughts are with them right now.

Our club today donated Brave Bear books to a primary school in Melksham and the local library to coincide with World Book Day. The book we have donated is designed for children aged 8 – 10 years to highlight the facts behind abusive relationships. It has been very sensitively written.

Yes, you can recycle medicine blister packs at Superdrug (if they have a pharmacy it appears) It’s a partnership with tetracycle and a great way of stopping them all going into landfill.

More ring pulls have been collected by our regional clubs, friends and family. It’s such an easy thing to do and benefits those women in the Phillippines to make a decent living.

The club collected some lovely gifts for the Chippenham branch of the Salvation Army which will be given to families in need this Christmas. Goodman Warren and Beck were happy to pass on the goods for us.

Members from the club tied an orange ribbon around the obelisk at Orange Grove in Bath to highlight the last day of activism of elimination of violence against women. We placed ‘love me, love me not’ bookmarks on railings to highlight the U.N ‘orange the world’ campaign.
