2011 Charter Lunch
A Battleaxe entertains – and we made it into the paper too!!!!

Christine Hamilton, a self-admitted battleaxe, was the guest speaker at our 86th Charter Lunch at The Centurion Hotel, Midsomer Norton, entertaining us all with tales of her own life and that of other British Battleaxes, including Margaret Thatcher, Edwina Currie, Barbara Cartland and Fanny Craddock. She is a real inspiration as to what can be achieved when you are determined, adaptable and motivated, summarising her move from parliamentary researcher (or DINKY – Double income no kids) through being a NINKY (no income no kids) to an author, Masterchef finalist, actress (the bossy fairy in Jack & the Beanstalk) and celebrity, although she hates the last description! She kept her audience in stitches and we could have listened to her for hours!
Money raised from this lunch will be donated to the Huntington’s Disease Association, which is Bath Soroptimist President’s Charity.
We were also pleased to be featured in our local paper, the Bath Chronicle.
Christmas 2011
One of our members taught us all how to make Christmas table decorations – and this is what we managed to achieve – pretty good for first time flower arrangers!
